Nature is found in surprising places. This tranquil pond on Wild Life Drive in Pettibone Park on Barron Island, in the middle of the Mississippi River. A 2.76 mile-long Highway #14 bridge, connecting urban La Cross, Wisconsin and La Crescent, Minnesota, is suspended above the park. When looking up from the pond, you can see trucks, buses, and cars speeding by on the road behind it.
